Updates from Malawi: a data-driven approach with digital healthcare

Last October, we wrote about the impact of the Malawi eRegister on health services at the Bilira Health Center. We produced the OpenSRP-based eRegister platform through close collaboration with facility workers to support health activities such as antenatal care, maternity and delivery, and child health. 

Now in use for almost eighteen months, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and GIZ have released a video showcasing the platform in the field with stories from health workers. The video demonstrates the incredible potential of digital tools and how they can lead to better information and better decisions.

We are now helping to pilot a new outpatient department module and are encouraged by early results. We remain committed and excited to improve and scale the eRegister with the Ministry, donors and implementation partners in Malawi and beyond.
